Stop Motion Project....Award Winning Movie ( pics )

Rules are meant to be. . .

Synopsis

“Rules are meant to be…” uses the technique of stop-motion to convey an important message about road safety. The title is inspired by the popular phrase “Rules are meant to be broken”. Here, the title breaks away from the phrase and leaves the statement open-ended – “Rules are meant to be” broken or followed? - the choice is left to you- the viewer. Both the protagonists- the driver and the pedestrian – do not follow basic traffic rules. Their tragic end seeks to urge people to obey traffic rules, so as to maintain their own safety and the safety of others on the road.

The Making

The style of this stop-motion is Puppet Animation. The dolls were created using sponge, cloth and thermocol and they were rigged using metal wires. The shoes were made using M-Seal and pins were added to the feet to make the model stand independently. The car was made of wood and it was plastered with P.O.P. in order to paint it. It was spray painted using yellow paint. Seat covers were designed using cloth and the car has been provided with working headlights and reading light (to illuminate the driver’s face). The set was created using thermocol sheets and was held together by fevicol and nails. The structure was coated with a layer of texture white before painting and sticking of prints (doors, billboard, street signs etc.). The footpath was textured using stencils and a thermocol block to print the design on to it. The lighting was done using a series of bulbs (LED’s). The street lights have been constructed using aluminum rods, bulbs and paper cups. Thelighting system of each building is fully functional.
